Antoine Mountain

This is the newest ski hill in Ontario. After closing in 2000, it reopened in 2015 with noticeable improvements and modifications. Antoine Mountain boasts 15 trails, including the longest in the entire province, measuring 2.9 km. The vertical drop reaches 630 feet, and the summit offers an incredible view of the Ottawa River. There is also a terrain park.

Blue Mountain Resort

One of Ontario’s best ski resorts, with 42 trails of varying difficulty, from the easiest runs, which are ideal for beginners, to routes for experienced skiers and snowboarders. The vertical drop is 720 feet—the highest in southern Ontario. You can also ski at night here. For those who prefer skating, there is an excellent rink with free admission.

Brimacombe

At Brimacombe, you can enjoy 23 trails of varying difficulty, 11 of which are available at night. If you are skiing for the first time or want to improve your skills, you can use the services of local instructors.

Calabogie Peaks Resort

Built on the slopes of Mount Dickson, this resort offers visitors the opportunity to ski down the highest slope in all of Ontario—the maximum height here is 780 feet. Its 80 acres contain 24 trails, one of which is 1.6 km long. There are four terrain parks: Mini Rail Park, Rail Park, Mogul Field and Snow Cross Track. In addition, you can rent snowmobiles, go cross-country skiing, snowshoe or visit the skating rink.

Chicopee

Chicopee is a small skiing and snowboarding area near Toronto, with 14 trails available during both the day and night. Beginners can attend the school, where you can learn the skills for your chosen sport. Locals love this place because of its excellent location. Chicopee is considered Toronto’s hidden gem. Incidentally, the hilltops offer an excellent view of the city.

Dagmar

Dagmar Resort offers visitors 17 trails of varying difficulty and an excellent selection of local cafés and restaurants. In addition, you can also ski here in the evening.

Glen Eden Skiing & Snowboarding

This is a fairly small hill with a vertical drop of 240 feet. These conditions make for short but steep runs, which are better suited to those who are not skiing for the first time. If you are a beginner, however, do not despair—there are gentler slopes here as well.

Hidden Valley Highlands Ski Area

A fairly small resort with 13 trails on 35 acres of land, offering, among other things, the opportunity to ski at night. There is also a terrain park. The resort’s small size makes it an excellent option for beginners.

Hockley Valley Resort

The maximum vertical drop at this resort is 375 feet. The trails can be accessed using one of four lifts. Snowboarders especially love the large local terrain park with various features, including rails, benches, tabletops and more.

Horseshoe Resort

Horseshoe Resort has been modernized in recent years, including upgrades to its snowmaking equipment. It is a wonderful place for a family getaway and to learn to ski. The base offers the services of more than a hundred professional instructors, the trails are fairly short, and the maximum height is 308 feet. There is also a large tubing hill and a skating rink. In addition, you can go snowmobiling or ride a fat bike here.

Lakeridge Ski Resort

At this resort, you will find 23 trails spread across more than 70 acres of well-maintained terrain. The maximum vertical drop is 300 feet. In addition, there is a separate slalom run, two terrain parks and a separate tubing area.

Loch Lomond Ski Area

Loch Lomond can be roughly divided into two areas: the north is suitable for experienced skiers and boarders because of its steeper slopes, while the south is an excellent choice for beginners thanks to its gentler and easier trails. There is also a terrain park and routes for those who enjoy skiing among the trees or for true daredevils. The resort has 17 trails in total, half of which are available for night skiing. The maximum vertical drop is 750 feet.

Mansfield

Mansfield is a private ski resort with a wide selection of membership packages. Here you will find 17 trails, 7 lifts and plenty of entertainment for the whole family.

Mount Baldy

Mount Baldy has been serving winter sports enthusiasts for more than 60 years. This family resort has 10 trails, with a maximum vertical drop of 475 feet. The trails are suitable for beginners and intermediate skiers and snowboarders. You can hire an instructor to learn and improve your skills. Equipment rentals are naturally also available.

Mount Louis Moonstone

This family park opened back in 1964. It continues to attract many active winter recreation enthusiasts. The park has 36 trails and 9 lifts, with a vertical drop of 550 feet. In addition, there is a spacious ski park with various features where you can practise all kinds of tricks.

Mount Pakenham

Mount Pakenham is a small family resort with ten beginner and intermediate trails. The maximum vertical drop is 285 feet. Following recent improvements, you can now ski even after dark. It is an excellent place to learn to ski or snowboard. Full service packages include equipment rental, lessons, a helmet and a lift ticket. There are also snowshoeing trails.

Searchmont

This resort is impressive for its maximum slope height, reaching 750 feet. Here you’ll find 21 trails, 8 of which extend for more than a kilometre. There is also a terrain park on the property.

Sir Sam's Ski / Ride

This location has 14 trails, a terrain park for experienced skiers and snowboarders, and vertical runs with a maximum height of 325 feet. You can reach the top of the mountain either by chairlifts or lifts. You can also go cross-country skiing or snowshoeing here.

Snow Valley

The resort includes 19 trails for skiers and snowboarders, as well as a terrain park. In addition, you’ll find 14 tubing runs and a full 14 kilometres of snowshoeing trails here.

Cross-Country Ski Trails
Albion Hills

This wonderful place for cross-country skiing enthusiasts is just a half-hour drive from Toronto. You can ski here with your own equipment or rent equipment on-site. According to experienced skiers, the prices are pleasantly affordable, as is the large number of trails of completely different difficulty levels.

Algonquin Park

It takes 2.5–3 hours to drive here, but it’s well worth it. The trails are remarkable for their scenic beauty, particularly the breathtaking views from certain points in the park. The routes are also divided by difficulty level: there are options for beginners as well as more experienced skiers. In addition, there are several snowshoeing trails.

Arrowhead Park

This park, filled with smooth cross-country ski trails, is also located approximately 2.5 hours’ drive from the city. The routes run through the forest and along the lakeshore. An added bonus is a 1.5-kilometre skating trail.

Fen Lake Trails

These trails are suitable for those who aren’t ready to test their strength and endurance. If you’ve only recently discovered the joys of cross-country skiing, feel free to choose this option, as shorter and simpler trails await you here.

Ganaraska Park

An excellent option for active recreation away from the tourists. The park is a one-and-a-half-hour drive from Toronto. It attracts skiers with its scenic forest and numerous long trails, where you’re unlikely to encounter many people. However, note that equipment rentals are not available here, so you’ll have to bring everything yourself.

Hardwood Ski and Bike

The drive to this location, with its many cross-country ski trails, takes less than an hour and a half. Nevertheless, you may still encounter crowds of visitors, as the grounds themselves are fairly limited despite the considerable number of trails. As a result, the trails often intersect or run parallel to one another.
At the same time, there are excellent hills here where you can hone your skills.

Highland Nordic

After about 80 minutes on the road, you’ll arrive at Highland Nordic, a location with beautiful trails totalling 20–25 kilometres. The focus is specifically on the trails, so there are no hills here. However, the site attracts visitors, so this option isn’t suitable for those seeking solitude.

Horseshoe Valley

Another option less than an hour and a half from Toronto delights visitors with trails of varying difficulty totalling more than 30 kilometres. There are completely flat routes as well as hilly trails for more experienced skiers. Thanks to the extensive grounds, you don’t have to worry about crowds; you can simply enjoy an active outing amid beautiful forest scenery.

Leaf Lake Trails

This option definitely isn’t suitable for beginners: the trails here are truly challenging. However, those who can handle such routes will certainly appreciate the scenery revealed along the way. There are also less difficult trails here, in case you need a rest. You can continue your break in one of the three cabins with firewood and a stove located on the property.

Mansfield Ski Center

The drive to this centre takes less than an hour. You’ll find many fairly long trails here. Most are flat, although there are also a few hills. Despite the limited operating season, it is usually not very crowded.

Old Railway Trail

The name speaks for itself—this route was laid out along a former railway line, so you won’t find any hills here. The easiest way to get here is from the Mew Lake Campground side.

Seneca King Campus

A free option for cross-country skiing enthusiasts, located just 20 minutes’ drive from Toronto. The trails total no more than 15 kilometres and are all fairly flat, making them ideal for beginners and those who want to relax rather than test their endurance.

Wasaga Park

Wasaga Park is conveniently located near Wasaga Beach. It attracts skiers with its relatively affordable prices and 20 kilometres of trails winding through the forest without any significant hills.
