Is change always good?
I have a very convenient/quiet, close to home job which bores me to death. I wouldn't continue working there, however, it does get on my nurves plus $$ could be better.

Choice #1- stay where I am and not complain
Choice # 2- get a new job which is- far away, only 2-3 k more ( not much)- what if I'll hate it too?

Does it worth the risk to change jobs over 2-3 k only?

let's just say the money isn't the issue here...

5-6 K is definitely a difference...

если дело в деньгах (или в их недостаточности), то пораскинь мозгами во скока тебе будет этот far away обходиться. Шо толку получать на 5 штук больше минус таксы шоб бОльшую часть их тратить на commute. мне кааца шо надо смотреть со стороны перспективы, че где светит. можно и ездить дальше если там че светит больше он да лонг ран. а гадать если там будет так же хуево, так никогда не узнаешь пока не попробуешь, хотя Ай шуднт би токинг, я уже десятый год сижу на одном и том же месте....thanks a lot...

ну а вообще перемены конечно к лучшему даже если в первое время так не покажется, во первых опыт в резюме - хорошо, на ящик пива больше в неделю - хорошо

Well, talking about perspective- to be honest- neither places. It's the kinda job that I do while deciding what I wanna be in the future kinda thing...
Experience- wise I noticed that employees don't like when u move around much. Kinda like, are you gonna leave us in 3 months too?
Driving will be sucky from Thornhill to Yonge-Bloor ( f#$%g downtown)

and like what do you wanna be in teh future?

I think a jump from 28-35 or even 33 is something to consider. If both jobs have no perspective cause it's a transition time for you then what do you have to lose?

In regards to driving downtown... Do yourself a favor and use public transportation. I drove from Vaughan to Younge&Bloor for about half a year and after getting stressed out in traffic, and arriving only 15 minutes earlier than if I would take the TTC kinda did it for me and I never drove downtown since. At least not when I go to work. You can sleep or read a book or whatever on the bus and the subway. All you do while driving in rush hour is get stressed. Or at least I do.

So overall, the only thing you'll lose is your time (cause of the commute). To some it’s a big factor. I guess only you can decide.

You have to consider a few things, like many people said here:
1. future of yourself.
2. future of the company you work for at the moment.
3. size and success of both companies.
4. is there a future at the existing firm?...I assume not much due to your comment about moving on in the future and become somebody/somewhere.

If it is practically the same, change the job without blinking, and don't worry about your resume...I assume you're young and still have everything ahead of you...you can always explain to your future employer why you did it. Money difference is signifant at this salary frame, that's your car-insurance payments...easy. The last thing I'd do before changing the job, if you're worried about the resume, ask your existing employer if there is any chance they'd love to keep you and match the salary with your new employer....BUT...make sure you have the job offer in your hands :) Good luck.

Here's a funny thing...
I was driving from work today and, of coarse, traffic, traffic....
Do I want an extra hour getting home from work- NO!
There's no guarantee a new place will be better.
End of the story........
